High Intensity Focussed Ultrasound Therapy for Prostatic Tumors: Anaesthesiologists Perspective

High intensity focussed ultrasound (HIFU) is a fairly recent and 
excellent addition to the armamentarium of minimally invasive surgical 
therapy. It causes thermal ablation of targeted diseased tissue through 
intense local heat generation without affecting the intervening healthy 
tissue. It is a promising advancement in onco-surgery with the potential
 to revolutionize carcinoma prostate therapy.
